DHL / Mars UK
London Gateway
Overview
Quod secured Local Development Order (‘LDO’) and Town and Country Planning Act (‘TCPA’) consents on behalf of DHL and Mars UK, navigating a complex planning environment to enable the timely delivery and operation of the DHL flagship facility, operated on behalf of Mars UK.
Details
Quod acted as strategic planning lead, engaging with DHL and Thurrock legal teams to overcome shortfalls in the LDO parameters.
OUR ROLE
The new building completes the streamlining of the inbound and outbound distribution of Mars UK’s product portfolio. The building has achieved BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ accreditation, putting it in the top 1% of all non-domestic buildings in the UK. Quod was tasked with overcoming a number of issues with the LDO, that would not allow key plant (including solar panels) to be delivered to enable the operation (and BREEAM certification) to be achieved. A thorough review of the LDO, TCPA and extensive engagement with the legals teams enabled a hybrid solution of LDO and TCPA consents to be brought forward to enable the delivery of the facility on time.
