Cambridge Biomedical Campus

Overview

Quod is advising on the expansion of Cambridge Biomedical Campus and the delivery of its Vision 2050. CBC is the largest employment site in Cambridge and one of the world’s leading biomedical science clusters. The project will support the Campus’s continued growth, providing space for research, innovation, homes and infrastructure.

Details

Quod is providing strategic planning advice to secure the Campus’s long-term future, supporting enhancement of the existing site and expansion onto land released from the Green Belt.

OUR ROLE

Quod has advised on the expansion of the Campus since 2020, overseeing the preparation of evidence to support a new allocation in the emerging Greater Cambridge Local Plan covering the whole Campus.

Quod has been instrumental in bringing together the positions of key stakeholders – Cambridgeshire County Council, the University of Cambridge, the NHS, Prologis and a family trust – each with distinct programmes, funding requirements and priorities, to establish a consistent and collaborative approach to growth. This has ensured the emerging strategy is robust, aligned and deliverable, supporting the Campus’s continued evolution as a globally significant science and healthcare cluster.

Services

Quod’s Planning team is leading the strategic approach, promoting a new Local Plan allocation and advising on land optimisation and Green Belt release. In parallel, our Development Economics team has developed a bespoke approach to securing coordinated financial contributions from landowners that seeks to support long-term growth and investment across the Campus.
