St Thomas' Hospital
Quod obtained Planning and Listed Building consent for the part demolition, part alteration and part refurbishment of the Block 9 and Prideaux buildings at the St Thomas’ Hospital Campus to provide academic and commercially flexible professional floorspace for medical education purposes.
Prior to the grant of consent the Block 9 building had been vacant for over 10 years, and the Prideaux building was an underutilised resource no longer fit for purpose.
The development proposals include new and refurbished high quality academic and commercially ‘agile’ professional floorspace, alongside social/breakout space and specialist areas and/or office space and a café. Of particular importance to gaining the required consents was the early engagement with the Council, Historic England and other local stakeholder groups to ensure that the Grade II listed buildings were preserved in accordance with regulating bodies and with the support of local groups. The quality of design was also of paramount importance to the success of the scheme.
