Millwall FC Training Ground
Quod secured full planning permission on behalf of Millwall Football Club (MFC) for the construction of new training ground facilities in West Kingsdown, Kent comprising an Academy building, an indoor pitch, groundskeeper facilities, a security gatehouse, 15 outdoor football pitches, car and cycle parking set within an extensive landscaping scheme. The Site is located within the Green Belt and in close proximity to an area of Ancient Woodland.
The new training ground facilities will provide a new long term home for the Club as well as a base for Millwall’s Community Trust (MCT) to carry out their comprehensive programme of community activities and engagement.
Quod worked closely with the Club, Sevenoaks District Council and a number of key stakeholders including adjoining neighbours to successfully negotiate the planning application resulting in full grant of planning permission in February 2023. This included demonstrating that Very Special Circumstances existed which weighed in favour of development on this sensitive Green Belt site. The Very Special Circumstances were focused on the significant community benefits that the proposals would bring to West Kingsdown and the wider District as well as the employment, skills and training opportunities, improvements to the adjoining Public Right of Way and sustainable travel measures.
