Flagship Wickes Store, Crawley

In July 2016 Quod secured detailed planning permission for a c. 2,500 square metre flagship Wickes store (Class A1/B8) on Manor Royal, Crawley. The site is located in the Manor Royal Main Employment Area where planning policy seeks to protect and promote business use. Quod successfully demonstrated that the proposed use was of a scale and type that enhanced and would not undermine the established role and business function of Manor Royal. The consent was particular significant given CBC had refused an application for an almost identical proposal for Wickes in 2007 due to loss of employment land. Quod worked with CBC’s planning and urban design officers to secure a positive outcome which centred on a revised design which sought to enhance Manor Royal’s location as the focus for business use.
