Carlton Hill, Leeds
Leeds City Council recently granted Full planning permission for a 6-15 storey building for purpose built student accommodation, comprising 604 bedspaces, with high quality public realm, landscaping, internal and external amenity space.
Quod’s Leeds team, acting on behalf of Pickard Properties, managed the application through pre-application discussions, community engagement and the application’s determination. Quod are retained to advise on post-decision delivery.
The scheme was designed to have especial regard to student welfare, including the wellbeing of the occupants, as well as inclusivity and affordability.
The development was subject to extensive public consultation, and collaborative and positive pre app engagement with members and officers enabled LCC to grant consent under delegated powers.
Quod defined the strategy and planning case for the development, and evidenced the broad-ranging benefits to the local economy, community and environment. The planning consent was secured for the client on programme, which will enable the proposals to be delivered for the 2023 student intake.
