The New EIA Regulations 2017
Quod have produced a briefing note on the New EIA Regulations 2017, which are due to come into force on the 16thMay 2017. The new set of Regulations will transpose the 2014 amended EIA Directive into UK law.
The key amendments to the Regulations involve more front-loading of the EIA process in the early stages, with the intention of fewer EIAs overall and more proportionate assessment. The changes however, will see increased responsibility and pressures on planning authorities, which is likely to come at the expense of the developer.
You can read the briefing note in full here.
