Quod Secures Planning Permission for Carpetright Site, Old Kent Road
Southwark Council recently granted planning consent for a residential-led, mixed-use scheme on the Old Kent Road. The redevelopment of the Carpetright site will deliver 262 new homes alongside 2,200sqm of commercial floorspace within two buildings of 10 and 19 storeys.
On behalf of Southwark Estates (One) Limited (a joint partnership between Avanton and Urban Provincial), Quod have managed the application from the pre-application stage, working closely with Southwark Council and the design team to work up proposals that resulted in unanimous support from the planning committee members.
The scheme has been designed to respond to the wider evolving context of the Old Kent Road opportunity area and completes the adjoining Ruby Triangle site which includes delivering the rest of the large central community park. Its consent is an exciting step in the regeneration of the Old Kent Road which has been earmarked by the council to deliver 20,000 new homes and 10,000 jobs.
