Quod advice sees Avanton further 2,100-home Old Kent Road plans
Redevelopment on the Old Kent Road – Following Quod’s advice to SGN and Avanton, a partnership has been agreed, helping to deliver 2,100 homes and bringing the former gasholder site back into use.
Following Quod’s advice to SGN and Avanton, a partnership has been agreed to bring this site forward. Developer Avanton already owns two adjacent sites in the area and has bought the 1.6ha Gasholders site which sits in the Greater London Authority’s Old Kent Road Opportunity Area. This has furthered plans for the 2,100 home redevelopment of the Old Kent Road area with this purchase of a third site capable of holding hundreds of homes.
The area has been created to take advantage of the planned Bakerloo Line extension which will see the Old Kent Road area benefit from the economic and social benefits that this increased transport link will provide. Southwark Council’s Area Action Plan envisages that there will be a creation of 20,000 new homes and 10,000 jobs overall. Avanton is leading the way on providing homes in this area, already submitting plans for over 1,400 homes.
