Fundraising for Alzheimer’s Society in 2019
Following a big year of fundraising for Quod, the totals have now been calculated and we are pleased to report that we have raised £12,376 for the Alzheimer’s Society in 2019. The Alzheimer’s Society was selected by colleagues as our charity partner for 2019. It is the UK’s leading dementia charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia. Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and there’s currently no cure.
Fundraising took place through various events, including the Hackney Half Marathon, a World Food day sale, a night of Beerinterring, a very popular quiz and a variety of sweepstakes. Quod also endeavoured to raise awareness for the charity through its website, posters and information around the office, and by committing to training colleagues as ‘Dementia Friends’. The training aims to change the way people think, talk and act in order to help those living with dementia and bring about positive change in society.
As well as the work with our official charity partner, Quod also contributed £10,820 to other charitable causes and volunteered time to help local services. Just before Christmas both offices collected for local food banks. In London we donated 66kg of food and toiletries to the Euston Trussell Trust and in Leeds, contributions were given to Fareshare Centres, which help people across Yorkshire.
Following such a successful year, Quod has decided to support a new charity partner in 2020 and has selected Shelter, a charity that supports people struggling with bad housing or homelessness. We will be posting more information on our charity page soon.
We would like to thank all the staff at Quod, as well as our many supporters, friends and family who continue to help us fundraise and take on new and exciting events each year.
