Folkestone and Hythe District Plan Supports New Garden Town at Otterpool Park, Kent
Since 2017 Quod has supported the Otterpool Park LLP in the promotion of a new Garden Town known as ‘Otterpool Park’ with key transport connections on the HS1 line and M20 Junction 11. The 750 hectare site is closely related to existing villages and benefits from a number of heritage assets, namely a Grade 1 listed castle. An outline planning application has been submitted for the development, which is featured in the government’s Garden Communities Programme. The Quod team is led by planning director Tom Vernon, supported by colleagues in planning, socio-economics and development economics.
In parallel, Quod has advised the client team and acted as expert planning and housing delivery witnesses in support of the Core Strategy Review Examination, which took place across virtual examination sessions in 2021 and 2022. The Inspectors’ Report was published in February and concluded that the proposed allocation for between 8,000 to 10,000 homes was fully justified as being deliverable and viable.
It is anticipated that the Core Strategy will be adopted in March/April 2022. For further information please contact Tom Vernon or Poppy Carmody-Morgan.
