East Village takes Gold at London Planning Awards
The transformation of the 2012 Olympic Village into East Village has scooped the Mayor of London’s prestigious Award for Planning Excellence and Best New Place to Live at this year’s London Planning Awards.
Forming part of the wider Stratford City development, the Quod team has led (and continues to lead) the planning process at East Village since 2004. Situated adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, East Village initially accommodated the Olympic Village before providing a new neighbourhood of around 5,000 new homes. It also provides a new school, community facilities/polyclinic, parks and gardens and planning permission exists for around 2,000 additional homes which are anticipated to be the subject of detailed planning applications during the course of 2014.
The transformation of East Village is a key milestone for the development as first residents have already started to occupy the 2,818 new homes. It is anticipated that all buildings built to date will be available for occupation during 2014 representing the first phase of Olympic legacy residential development.
