Charity Beerinteering & Quiz Night
Returning due to popular demand, the annual Quod Charity Quiz Night made its comeback on Thursday with quiz masters Ryan and Adam at the helm. The evening was attended by over 35 Quoddies who made up five teams all vying for the coveted (non-existent) Quod Quiz trophy.
Whilst the quiz took a relatively recognisable format with the initial rounds consisting of ‘In The News’, ‘Travel’, ‘Music’ and ‘General Knowledge’, there was a twist which went to the heart of the participants specialist subjects. First there was a blind alcohol tasting where Quoddies were asked to give prices and percentages of various tipples before having to guess the flavour of the Southern Sweet Tea Moonshine brought all the way from Tennessee. The night was rounded off by the hotly anticipated Quod round where some uncomfortable discoveries were made which included Adam’s secret love of Jessie J as well as Ryan’s secret fondness of wearing fake tan.
After an Oscar-style blunder of reading out the wrong winners, congratulations finally went to Barney’s Babes who beat the second placed Development Economics team by just two points finishing with a final percentage of 69%.
The quiz night followed a night of beerinteering which took place at the end of August. Again hosted by seasonsed hosts Ryan and Adam, over 20 Quoddies spilt into teams were given cryptic clues, facts and hints on various pubs and bars around Soho. Whilst some took this opportunity to enjoy time away from the usual watering hole, others were spotted running around Soho in the summer heat and even cramming six people into a phone box for bonus points.
After a close and quick battle, predominantly between JMS and Development Economics, congratulations goes to the latter who completed the round with the highest score in little more than an hour.
Thank you to all of those who took part and your contribution not only to the events themselves but also to our charity of the year: Centrepoint. Together these events have raised in excess of £500 and have helped Quod set a new record of money raised for its chosen charity.
