Cane Hill Judicial Action Rejected
The High Court of Justice rejected an application for Judicial Review in March 2015 following the decision by the London Borough of Croydon to grant planning permission for the redevelopment of Cane Hill, a former hospital site set within 85ha of Green Belt in Coulsdon.
Quod provided Barratt Homes with planning, environmental and CIL advice and negotiated the hybrid planning application which comprised 675 new homes and 3,000m² of commercial floorspace. Ben Ford, the Quod director leading the project, stated that “This was absolutely the right outcome for this well considered and technically sound planning application. The site has been vacant for many years offering no benefit to the local community of Croydon. It is a shame that an aggrieved party used the court system to slow down and further delay the regenerative benefits of the permission. We are however very pleased that a decision has been made in such an unequivocal way to allow the development to proceed”.
