Bucket Collection raises over a thousand pounds for Alzheimer’s Society
Quod has been raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society since the beginning of January. A new addition to the charity programme this year involved collecting money at London tube stations. Over two days this summer, 25 members of Quod shook buckets at Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus. With dementia and related diseases being high on public agenda, we were met with many members of the general public not only donating their change but also striking up conversation about the disease and how it has affected the people they know.
Donors ranged in age and included some unsuspecting Quod members on their way to and from meetings. Once the buckets were handed back it was brilliant to see the number of notes that we had received. Over the two mornings we raised £1,185 – it now makes sense why the buckets were so heavy in those last few hours! With Quod match funding the amount that we raised we were able to donate a total of £2,370 to the charity. More charity events are planned for later this year and we look forward to raising more money and spreading awareness for the charity.
We would like to thank everyone that donated to such an important cause and the people that stopped and spoke to us.
